Meeting Minutes: March 11, 2007

Members Present: Heidi Calton (facilitator), Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap (notes), Jared Wilken, Clem Freeman, David Cobb, Anthony Barondess

1. Announcements
• Monday, March 12, 11:30am at David’s house is the next Humboldt County Green’s Election Subcommittee meeting.
• The weather is beautiful!

2. Adoption of December Meeting Minutes
Minutes approved with unanimous consensus.

3. Treasurer’s Report
Hannah and Heidi went to the bank and added Hannah to the account and took Xandra off. Hannah asked Jared to report that balance is $623.65.

4. County Council Report
• CC purchased an updated Green voter list.
• The CC sent a letter to Mike Thompson urging him to vote not to continue funding the war. This letter received media hits in the Times-Standard and the Eureka Reporter.
• Shaye Harty is starting a MySpace account for the Humboldt Greens.
• David Proctor is making a lot of good progress with the 10,000 trees initiative.
• Next CC meeting is Saturday, March 24, 11am-1pm at the Golden Harvest in Arcata. David offered to drive the carpool from Eureka, contact him to get a ride: 476-8502.

5. Election of New Vice-Chair
• Kaitlin nominated Clem to be Vice-Chair.
• Clem was elected Vice-Chair by unanimous consensus.

6. Old Business
• Eureka Greens Website: Clem will followup to get the passwords transferred from Xandra to the Kaitlin, as the new webmaster for the Eureka Greens. He will research the domain host to see what our options are and draft a letter.

7. General Assembly
• Next General Assembly is May 19th at 10:30am.
• Eureka Greens who attended the last GA really liked the new format of inviting other groups to share what they’re working on.

8. Iraq Occupation – March 17 event
• Jared reported that Communities for Peace is organizing a big Peace Vigil on Saturday.
• Starting at 11am in the Courthouse parking lot they will begin handing out over 3000 tombstones representing all the soldiers who have been killed in Iraq.
• The vigil begins at noon. The plan is to line 101 with each participant holding a tombstone. If anyone wants to help volunteer they should come early at 11am, and help keep peace and do other odd jobs.
• Everyone needs to come!!

9. Set Next Meeting, Brainstorm Agenda Items
• Next meeting is April 21, 3:30-5pm at 3-2-1 Coffee (at 321 Third St in Eureka)

• Fundraising Brainstorm (hopefully to work with the CC)h
